Maya graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2020 with a B.S. in Biology. During her time at UK, she worked in the lab of Dr. Catherine Linnen studying variation in coloration patterns of the redheaded pine sawfly, Neodiprion lecontei. Maya is interested in understanding the genetic basis of adaptation, the role of mutation in adaptation, and how genome structure affects adaptation.
