Beverly received her Bachelor's at Harvard Extension School, in psychology. For her Master's, also from the Extension school, she studied Biotechnology, completing a thesis on The Fitness Costs of Generosity in Budding Yeast with professor Andrew Murray, for which she won the Dean's Prize. Beverly spent 15 years working in the lab of Richard Mulligan at The Whitehead Institute and Harvard Medical. She then worked as Lab Manager and Research Scientist in Andrew Murray's lab here at Harvard. She's continues to do both lab management and bench science in the Hoekstra lab.
